For the third time, Atlas Honda has officially confirmed launching an electric scooter specifically designed for Pakistani consumers within the current fiscal year.
This announcement came in an official notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX). Notably, the move aligns perfectly with the Pakistani government’s updated National Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy.
Special Assistant to the PM on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan stated that the aim is ambitious: by 2030, 30% of all new vehicles sold in the country should be electric.
Atlas Honda has been quietly laying the groundwork for this shift. In 2023, the company held a soft launch of its electric scooter, “Benly e.”
This prototype was part of a broader initiative to test EV performance on local roads and under Pakistani weather and usage conditions.
Currently, after completing quality checks and road tests, Honda is working with regulatory authorities to get the green light for commercial launch.
It is worth noting that Atlas Honda seems confident that it will launch the electric scooter within this financial year.
According to environmental reports, road traffic remains one of the biggest sources of carbon emissions in the country. If even a fraction of those 26 million motorcycles switch to electric in the coming years, the environmental benefits would be huge.
