BYD Pakistan, Mega Motor Company (BYD|MMC) has partnered with HUBCO Green (HGL), a subsidiary of Hub Power Company, to introduce the largest NEV (New Energy Vehicle) charging network in Pakistan.

Through this collaboration, it seeks to serve the increasing fleet of electric vehicles (EVs) by establishing a network of DC fast chargers across the country.

Interestingly, the plan includes installing 128 chargers across Pakistan in the next three years. By December 2025, 50 of these will be up and running.

The new EV charging stations will cover three main areas:

  1. Urban centres, through deals with major fuel companies like PSO, PARCO Gunvor, and Attock Petroleum.
  2. Highways and motorways, with a charger every 150-200 kilometers to support long-distance travel.
  3. Commercial locations like malls, hospitals, and hotels for public convenience.

Some charging stations are already operational in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, such as at PSO outlets and BYD dealerships.

VP Sales and Strategy of BYD Pakistan Danish Khaliq said that "range anxiety" is a major worry for users of EVs. The project, he added, will make electric mobility in Pakistan a practical reality and instill confidence.

Masood Zafar of HUBCO explained the project is not merely technology, it's part of Pakistan's green energy future. He further explained that the collaboration will encourage industries and people to transition to clean transport.

The network supports the government's climate objectives and lowers the nation's carbon footprint. BYD Pakistan intends to keep investing in green transport options, moving the country towards a low-carbon economy.
