BYD EVs arrive at Karachi Port in first-ever commercial import

In a move to foster environmentally friendly transport in the country, the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) received the first import of completely built-up (CBU) electric vehicles (EVs) from Chinese automaker BYD on Tuesday.

The EVs from the leading China-based EV manufacturer landed at the Karachi International Container Terminal (KICT), the private terminal of KPT’s private terminal.

Citing sources, The News reported that it was BYD's first-ever batch of EVs commercially  imported in Pakistan, highlighting KPT's remarkable strides to pave the foundations of environmental sustainability and a greener future.

The Chinese electrically-powered vehicles are expected to spark a wave of transformation in Pakistan's local automotive industry and mark a bold step towards normalising EVs in the country.

Famed globally for manufacturing high-tech EVs and plug-in hybrid vehicles, the Chinese carmaker was founded in November 1994 and now has established itself as a leading brand which excels in innovation and technological advancements in EV production.
