OpenAI has announced that ChatGPT can now accept voice notes and images from WhatsApp users. This allows users to record audio messages instead of typing their queries. The chatbot will later assess the snippets and reply accordingly using text.

Back in December, ChatGPT joined Meta-owned WhatsApp, expanding its availability to users — especially for those with restricted internet access. Previously, users were limited to text input, and subscribers were unable to access their exclusive benefits.

Similarly, users can share ChatGPT photos on WhatsApp and ask follow-up questions. The chatbot will then process the input leveraging OpenAI’s servers and respond to you with relevant answers.

Beyond media input, which is currently available worldwide, the ChatGPT manufacturer will soon enable users to sign into their ChatGPT accounts on WhatsApp.

This feature will allow Plus and Pro subscribers to access some of their exclusive benefits on WhatsApp, including paywalled AI models.

Save 1-800-CHATGPT (1-800-242-8478) as a contact on your mobile and relaunch WhatsApp to get started. The chatbot’s official account will then appear on your WhatsApp contact list. It has now allowed users to communicate with it using text, images, and voice messages.

These significant upgrades will assist those on limited data plans to maximise their experience with ChatGPT, as the app may struggle on slow networks. Additionally, this integration eliminates the need for users with limited storage to download a dedicated app.
