The agreement between China and Pakistan to create a joint space science training centre is a major step in strengthening their strategic partnership.

This development is a component of the Action Plan (2025-2029) for a closer partnership between China and Pakistan in the new era, which aims to improve collaboration in space exploration and astronaut training.

The agreement expands upon the Space Cooperation Outline Program, which was signed by the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission of Pakistan and the China National Space Administration in 2021–2030.

Together, the two nations will conduct deep space and lunar exploration, including multilevel evaluations of the International Lunar Research Station.

Cooperative astronaut selection and training is one of the partnership's main features, which could open the door for Pakistan to join China in human spaceflight missions.

In order to give Pakistan access to cutting-edge satellite and remote sensing technologies, the two countries will also deepen their cooperation in the use of the China Platform of Earth Observation System.

The collaboration highlights the strategic importance of space cooperation between China and Pakistan, as both nations acknowledge its capacity to propel social advancement and economic modernisation.

It is anticipated that ongoing talks regarding the creation of the Pakistan Space Centre, which would act as a centre for space technology research, development, and application, will strengthen this partnership even more.
