In a bold move into the future of fully autonomous flight, a Chinese tech firm has introduced a pilotless air taxi that is capable of flying 125 miles on a single charge, changing the way air travel is usually done.
Developed by EHang, VT35 is a sleek, electric flying vehicle designed to make urban air travel safe and effortless.
The two-seater aircraft can fly up to 125 miles on a single charge and doesn’t need a pilot onboard. Instead, it’s controlled remotely by trained operators on the ground, who rightly guide every flight using advanced automated systems.
The most catchy part of the VT35 is that it can take off and land vertically, which sets it apart from ordinary aircraft, making it ideal for tight urban spaces like rooftops or car parks.
It can fly at a top speed of 134 mph and can carry up to 950 kilograms. What stands as a testament to its unmatched practical power and agility is a recent test, wherein it managed to land safely on a moving ship.
EHang showcased the aircraft in Hefei, Anhui province, drawing global attention with its futuristic design and cutting-edge features.
The company says the VT35 is built to handle the demands of everyday city transport, with a durable frame and electric propulsion system built for efficiency.
While currently in testing, the Chinese pilotless air taxi is priced at around $913,600, with EHang, the company, also planning to launch it commercially soon.
