Although a dramatic revival of a social media platform, recently banned by Congress in the US, saw TikTok US reinstating its operations in the country thanks to US President Donald Trump, an amateur social media app seems to have gained massive ground as a TikTok alternative.

RedNote, also called Xiaohongshu (Little Red Book) in China, has been gaining traction for the past couple of months following the confirmation of the TikTok ban in the US.

What makes RedNote a TikTok alternative

Debuted in 2013, the app simultaneously blends the features of Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest, as noted by The Express Tribune

Like TikTok, users on RedNote can engage in creating, uploading and sharing short-form videos on a variety of topics ranging from fashion, beauty, food, and travel to lifestyle.

As far as its resemblance with TikTok is concerned, they have the most in common in terms of privacy policies and data handling.

One of its biggest use cases involves detailed product reviews, as it allows users to share their experiences with goods and services so that other potential buyers can make an informed decision before making a blind purchase.

Other notable features of RedNote take into account the integration of e-commerce, becoming a one-stop platform for frequent buyers by offering them in-app purchasing of products after watching their comprehensive reviews.
