
Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif launched the Honhaar scholarship and laptop scheme, aiming to support students from public and private universities along with colleges and empower the youth with essential tools for a brighter and more digital future.
This launch was during a ceremony at Government College University Faisalabad. Under the Honhaar scholarship programme, cheques worth Rs201.19 million were distributed among 4,690 students from Faisalabad division.
It was shared that 3,211 students from public universities will get scholarships priced at Rs176.27 million, while 101 students from private universities will receive Rs2.8 million. Additionally, 1,378 students from public colleges will benefit from Rs22 million in scholarships.
Major educational institutions benefiting include Government College University Faisalabad, University of Agriculture, Government College Women University, University of Jhang, and Faisalabad Medical University.
Moreover, CM revealed the latest laptop model under the CM laptop scheme, aiming to distribute 40,000 laptops across Punjab. She announced a special reward for students scoring above 65%, pledging to give them laptops to improve their academic pursuits.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif said “All students with more than 65% marks will receive laptops. I will personally hand over the laptops to you very soon.”
CM Maryam Nawaz said that currently 30,000 Honhaar Scholarships are distributed annually but this number is insufficient and it will be increased by 20,000.
