The Corolla Apex is a special edition of the Toyota Corolla that aims to deliver a more engaging driving experience. The Apex name comes from the racing term “clipping the apex”, which means taking the shortest and fastest path through a corner. Toyota claims that the Corolla Apex has a track-tuned suspension, a sporty exhaust, and a unique body kit that makes it stand out from the regular Corolla.
The Corolla Apex is based on the SE and XSE trims of the Corolla, which are powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that produces 169 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque. The engine can be paired with either a six-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with paddle shifters. The manual transmission is limited to 120 units, while the CVT is available for 5,880 units. The Corolla Apex has a fuel economy rating of 8.4 litres per 100 kilometres in the city and 6.5 litres per 100 kilometres on the highway for the manual, and 7.6 litres per 100 kilometres in the city and 5.9 litres per 100 kilometres on the highway for the CVT.
Apex edition of Toyota Corolla
The main attraction of the Corolla Apex is its suspension system, which has been lowered by 0.6 inches and stiffened by 47 per cent in the front and 33 per cent in the rear. The suspension also features specially tuned shock absorbers and coil springs, as well as new bump stops and stabiliser bars. The Corolla Apex also has a sport-tuned electronic power steering system that provides more feedback and responsiveness. The result is a Corolla that handles better, corners sharper and feels more agile on the road.
The Corolla Apex also has a distinctive look that sets it apart from the rest of the Corolla lineup. The exterior features a blacked-out grille, a bronze-coloured front spoiler, side skirts, and a rear diffuser, as well as a rear trunk spoiler. The Corolla Apex also has 18-inch black alloy wheels with a flow-formed design that reduces weight and increases strength. The wheels are wrapped in Yokohama Advan Fleva V701 tyres that offer more grip and traction. The Corolla Apex is available in three colours: Cement, Super White, and Black Sand Pearl.
