Cristiano Ronaldo is making his way into the world of fighting games. The football superstar has been announced as a playable character in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, the latest game in SNK’s legendary Fatal Fury franchise.
The game, set to release on April 24, is the first new entry in the series in 26 years.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves features
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is a traditional fighting game with quick battles and strong special moves. The new instalment will have 15 playable characters, with Ronaldo being one of the biggest surprises.
Interestingly, the trailer shows Ronaldo in his famous number seven jersey and captain’s armband, using a blue flaming football to attack opponents. His signature "Siuuu" celebration is also included as a victory pose.
An SNK spokesperson shared the reason behind this unique collaboration. “Ronaldo is not only a football icon but also the world’s No.1 influencer. We believe he will help establish Fatal Fury as the top fighting game.”
Ronaldo's in-game character is presented as "one of the best football players in the world" who has come to South Town to hone his football skills. His move set combines football skills and martial arts, and thus he is a formidable rival for veteran fighters.
This is not the first time Ronaldo has appeared in video games beyond football titles such as FIFA or PES. In 2015, he featured in the mobile game Ronaldo & Hugo: Superstar Skaters.
