The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has partnered with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and airlines to enhance and facilitate the passenger experience and the immigration process at international airports.

Notably, the meeting took place at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, chaired by FIA Lahore Director (R) Captain Muhammad Ali Zia, and attended by senior management from the CAA as well as multiple airlines.

FIA officials stated the purpose of the meeting was to work towards better coordination between the agencies, counter human trafficking, and reduce the waiting time for passengers both on arrival and departure.

Airlines and CAA officials mentioned operational challenges and bottlenecks relative to passenger handling before and after travel. After a detailed discussion, all parties agreed to take unified steps to enhance facilitation and not hinder the passenger experience in regard to the waiting time faced when clearing immigration.

The enhanced inter-agency coordination also illuminated the document verification procedures to augment security scrutiny while still providing some convenience for travellers.

Moreover, Zia pledged his agency's full cooperation, acknowledging that service efficiency must be aligned with the correctness of processes to avoid illegal activity. He commented that anything short of an institutional partnership will undermine the objectives.
