Flight operations at Sialkot International Airport resumed today at 6:00pm following a brief suspension owing to the cancellation of the Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM) that had halted air traffic four days ago on August 28.
Why Sialkot Airport flights were suspended?
The temporary suspension of Sialkot Airport flights was prompted by floodwater entering the airport premises.
While water drainage efforts remained underway even after the reinstation of operations, the Sialkot Airport authorities confirmed that the runway, taxiway, apron, terminal building, and main compound remained safe.
Citing Muhammad Umair Khan, an airport spokesperson, Samaa.Tv noted that all airport equipment remained secure and undamaged due to the harsh weather.
The airport administration expressed gratitude to the Pakistan Army and local authorities for their assistance and confirmed that the situation is being closely monitored.
The resumption of flight operations comes three days after the suspension took place on August 28.
