In a significant move, Capital Smart Motors (CSM) has launched Pakistan’s first Range Extended Electric Vehicle (REEV), the Forthing Friday REEV, with a remarkable drive range of 1,150 kilometres.

With the launch of the Friday REEV, that shift has become more apparent than ever, as the spotlight now turns toward more advanced and sustainable electric alternatives in the Pakistani automobile industry.

Forthing Friday REEV features

Built with advanced electric architecture and combined with a built-in range extender, the Forthing Friday REEV run primarily on electric power while still offering the reliability of a fuel-based backup system.

CSM described the launch as more than just another addition to the electric segment. “This won’t just be another launch, it’s a shift in the auto evolution narrative,” it said.

Unlike earlier plug-ins that often required frequent recharging or offered limited range between 50 and 120 kilometres, the REEV is built for both urban and long-route use.

To note, drivers can move confidently between cities without worrying about battery capacity or charging infrastructure—two common hurdles that have slowed electric vehicle adoption in the region.

The company stated: “Friday REEV fuses the best of both worlds: the clean efficiency of a battery electric vehicle, and the assurance of a range extender for longer journeys — no compromises, no anxiety, just forward momentum.”

However, the company has yet to officially announce further details on pricing and availability, while market experts believe it will likely fall in the upper-mid segment.

Competing HEVs from brands like Toyota and Haval currently range between Rs8 million and Rs15 million.
