According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the upcoming 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models are expected to launch simultaneously, similar to last year's release pattern.
Xiaomi to launch first AI-powered PC soon
Xiaomi is set to enter the world of artificial intelligence (AI) gadgets soon with its first AI-powered PC, as confirmed by the company’s president Lu Weibing.
This development follows the announcement of the Redmi Book Pro 2025 made by Ma Zhiyu, product marketing director at Xiaomi communications technology, which is rumoured to be powered by an Intel Core Ultra 5 processor. The upcoming Xiaomi PC is expected to feature Xiaomi HyperOS Smart Connect for seamless interaction with the tech giant’s ecosystem of smartphones, tablets, and smart home devices.
Qualcomm's Snapdragon X platform unveiled in India
Qualcomm officially launched its new platform, Snapdragon X, in India on Monday. The newly launched processor comes as the fourth model in the Snapdragon X series, adding to the Snapdragon X Elite, X Plus (10-core), and X Plus (octa-core) chipset.
The chipset is aimed at affordable Copilot+ PCs, which was initially launched at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025.
boAt launches Ultima Prime and Ember in India
boAt has officially unveiled two reasonable smartwatches, including Ultima Prime and Ultima Ember in India on Monday. Both the models consist of several innovative features such as Prime’s health and fitness features, and more, ensuring a seamless and intuitive user experience.
The Ultima Prime and Ultima Ember are offered in six colour options. Users can buy it through boAt’s official website, Amazon.in, Flipkart, and retail stores. Both the smartwatches are available for INR 1,899.
AirTag 2 likely to release in May or June with new features
Apple is rumoured to launch its second-generation AirTag in May or June this year. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman previously reported that a new AirTag would be released in mid-2025.
According to a post from a tipster known as Kosutami, with a second-generation Ultra-Wideband chip, the AirTag 2 is expected to have up to 3× longer range compared to the current AirTag. The chip debuted in the iPhone 15 and the Apple Watch Ultra 2.
Apple likely to integrate 5G cellular modem with main processor
Apple is reportedly gearing up to integrate its in-house 5G cellular modem into the main chipset. The company is already testing a successor to the C1 modem, aiming to reduce reliance on third parties.
After months of speculations, Apple finally released its first cellular modem with the iPhone 16e smartphone. However, currently, the modem occupies a separate slot in the device’s motherboard, which is not enough for energy efficiency.
MediaTek Dimensity 7400, 7400X chipsets launched
MediaTek has officially unveiled its latest mobile processors, the Dimensity 7400 and Dimensity 7400X.
These new chipsets build upon the success of their predecessors, the Dimensity 7300 and Dimensity 7300X, with enhanced artificial intelligence (AI) processing and gaming optimisations. It's worth mentioning that the first smartphones powered by these processors are expected to debut in the first quarter of 2025.
Realme Buds Air 7 TWS earphones released in China
Realme Buds Air 7 TWS earphones were released in China on Tuesday, coinciding with the release of Realme Neo 7 SE and Neo 7x smartphones. The earphones consist of active noise cancellation (ANC) supporting up to 52dB.
The earphone offers Hi-Res Audio certification support high-fidelity lossless LHDC 5.0 audio codec. Realme Buds Air 7 entails Bluetooth 5.4, Swift Pair and dual device connectivity.
Huawei to develop 910C and 910B AI chips in 2025
Huawei intends some big moves this year and one of these is to build 100000 Ascend 910C AI chips. The company has already increased its artificial intelligence (AI) processor yield by 40%. Currently, Huawei is aiming to further raise this figure by 60% in 2025.
Ascend 910C is said to gain 60% of Nvidia H100 inference performance. Its enhanced functioning indicated that China will soon eliminate its reliance on Nvidia.
Lenovo launches Legion Pro 34 in China
Lenovo has launched the Legion Pro 34, its first 240Hz OLED curved gaming monitor, offering an enhanced and premium experience. The device boasts a 34-inch screen and features a 3440×1440 px resolution with a 240Hz refresh rate, ensuring a vivid and immersive visual experience for gaming enthusiasts.
The Lenovo Legion Pro 34 is currently available in China for $855. However, its international release is yet to be disclosed.
Pixel Watch 3 to get ‘Loss of Pulse Detection’ feature in March
Google has received the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance for the Pixel Watch 3’s “Loss of Pulse Detection” feature, paving the way for its potential launch in the US by the end of March.
The Pixel Watch 3's new feature joins a suite of existing safety and health features, including Car Crash Detection, Fall Detection, Irregular Heart Rhythm Notifications, and the electroardiogram (ECG) app.
Xiaomi Smart Speaker Pro launched with cutting-edge AI-powered capabilities
Xiaomi has launched the Smart Speaker Pro, an advanced AI-powered speaker, with the Super Xiao AI voice assistant. The device has launched, alongside with the release of the Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro at the Xiaomi 15 Ultra and SU7 Ultra launch event.
The speaker supports stereo pairing, enabling users to connect two units for an immersive and crisp sound setup. In addition, it entails a dynamic light band that synchronises with music playback, improving the listening experience with a highly interactive element.
Sony announces price drop for PlayStation VR 2
Sony has announced a price drop in its PlayStation VR 2 headset. The VR 2 will be discounted to just $399.99, down from the original $549 pricing when it launched in February 2023.
Moreover, the headset will see a price cut in Europe (€449.99), the UK (£399.99), Japan (¥66,980), and other regions. Sony is positioning the price drop as a “fantastic time to dive into the exciting world of PS VR2,” but it also comes nearly a year after the company reportedly paused PSVR 2 production to clear excess inventory.
Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro launched in China
Xiaomi has officially unveiled the Buds 5 Pro series, alongside the flagship Xiaomi 15 Ultra and SU7 Ultra EV. These earbuds feature an industry-first dual-amplifier triple-driver acoustic system, ensuring high-fidelity sound with reduced distortion.
The earbuds feature an independent spatial audio system with dynamic head-tracking, creating a 360-degree immersive sound field, and supporting personalised spatial audio calibration. Smart features include AI-powered real-time speech-to-text conversion with 98.7% accuracy along with face-to-face translation and simultaneous interpretation.
Meta announces new AR glasses ‘Aria Gen 2’
Meta has unveiled the next generation of augmented reality (AR) glasses called "Aria Gen 2" as a successor to its Project Aria, which was originally launched five years ago in 2020.
The Aria Gen 2 adds new capabilities to the platform, including an upgraded sensor suite, Meta’s custom silicon and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) features. According to Meta, the 75-gram Aria Gen 2 can seamlessly perform AI tasks such as eye tracking, hand tracking, and speech recognition.
