Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Etihad Airways joined hands for a codeshare partnership that will increase travel options for passengers traveling between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

According to a the national carrier, this codeshare partnership — applicable from October 31 — also includes cargo and a frequent flyer facility.

Under the agreement, a frequent flyer programme facility would be available to travellers on the codeshare network.

Moreover, the partnership is for routes where PIA flights don't go directly, and PIA passengers would get a comprehensive travel facility through Etihad Airways’ wide network.

The collaboration will not only increase revenue but also give passengers seamless travel options across various destinations globally.

Last week, the Senate Standing Committee of Defence was informed that four companies, Arif Habib Limited, Fauji Fertiliser Company (FFC), Air Blue, and Lucky Group, have taken part in the privatisation process of PIA, which is expected to conclude by next month.

PIA officials said that the brand name will remain unchanged, and the national flag on its aircraft will not be removed.
