Google is working on adding AI suggestions to its app on iOS, aiming to speed up search processes for users.

This new feature is part of Google's ongoing efforts to integrate AI into its products, enhancing user experience and efficiency.

Google has been actively incorporating AI into its products. Recently, it introduced Gemini’s ability to summarise Drive folders and is working on an AI-powered “Call To-do List” function. The addition of AI search suggestions in the Google app on iOS is another step in this direction.

Google’s new AI suggestions feature

While exploring the Google app on iOS, a new pencil icon was spotted in the search box. Tapping this icon opens a new page with a text box and a few suggestions. When users start typing, the Gemini icon appears below with the text "Generate AI suggestions."

Reportedly, as the users type more words, the app generates suggestions based on the query, which can be selected to narrow down the search. This feature works like filters, helping users find more precise results quickly.

For example, if a user is searching for a gift, the AI suggestions might include options like "budget," "gift occasion," and "relationship to recipient."

Selecting "friend," "under $50," and "birthday" would refine the search to find an affordable birthday gift for a friend. This feature aims to make searches more efficient and tailored to user needs.
