To enhance the overall driving experience and provide owners with more entertainment options, the renowned car company Rivian is rolling out a new software update for its electric vehicles (EVs), introducing support for Google Cast and YouTube apps.

The software update is available for Gen 1 and Gen 2 Rivian R1S and R1T vehicles.

Google Cast support on Rivian EVs

With the latest update, Google Cast brings more than 3000 apps to Rivian vehicles, enabling owners to stream content from popular services such as Disney+, Netflix, Hulu, and Prime Video, directly on their vehicle's display.

Currently, this feature is exclusive to Rivian vehicles, making it the first-ever automaker to offer Google Cast, however, it will be expanded to other Android Automotive vehicles in the future.

In addition to Google Cast, an official YouTube app is also available on Rivian vehicles, mirroring the experience found on TVs.

The update also includes other notable features, such as a SiriusXM app, support for Climate Schedule on Gen 2 vehicles, and improvements to Highway Assist, including a "Lane Change on Command" feature.

Furthermore, the update introduces a Snow Mode for the centre display and a new key fob for Gen 2 vehicles, which will be available for purchase.
