Reddit is currently rolling out updates to enhance how users engage in the comments section. Famous for its various subreddit communities, Reddit facilitates unique user engagement through posts, comments, and upvoting in a way that bridges separate forums with social media.
In an attempt to enhance the commenting experience even more, Reddit is offering three new features: comment sharing, insights, and drafts.
Reddit new features
The features are appearing on Reddit's mobile apps and websites as of today, and will finish rolling out over the following weeks. Reportedly, Reddit claims the new features are enhancements to provide users with greater flexibility and transparency over how they interact.
A major new feature is the ability to share a comment as a post. What this means is, if you say something powerful in a comment, you can now feature that comment as a full post.
Reddit suggests that they want to recognise interesting conversations in comment sections and "breathe new life into" old comments. In some cases, it could even promote cross-subreddit conversations into a great broader discussion—and you never know, memes could come from this too.
The other big feature released with the posting comments is called Comment Insights. This feature shows you data like total upvotes, views, replies, etcetera, which is extremely useful for analysing what your comment is doing.
You’ll also see the upvote-to-downvote ratio and how often your comment was shared or awarded.
Furthermore, Comment Drafts will help users who start writing a reply but need more time.
