Google Chrome has introduced a new innovative artificial intelligence (AI)-powered feature that summarises online store reviews.

This new tool provides users with essential information related to customer service, product quality, customer service, shipping schedules, costs, and return metrics.

Users can access these AI-generated summaries, which pulls data from reliable sources like PowerReviews, Reputation.com, TrustPilot, and verified reviews, by clicking on the icon located on the left of the address bar.

The feature has the potential to revolutionise online shopping by enabling customers to make better choices, by providing a clearer overview of what to expect from a retailer.

With Chrome commanding a 68% share of the global browser market, the rollout of this AI-powered functionality further cements Google’s dominance in the digital browsing space.

This market control also allows Google to gather valuable user behaviour data, which is often used to refine its targeted advertising strategies.

However, the tech giant's position is not without challenges. Emerging competitors like Perplexity, which recently introduced its AI-focused Comet browser, and speculation surrounding new offerings from OpenAI are adding pressure to the browser market.

In addition, a recent US court ruling found Google guilty of abusing its monopoly in the search market, with a judge even recommending that the company divest from Chrome.
