In an effort to rethink the function of AI in educational contexts, OpenAI has revealed "Study Mode," a brand-new function intended to promote a more interesting and thought-provoking educational process.

This change is a reaction to growing worries about how easily academic dishonesty can be enabled by AI tools.

Study Mode, according to OpenAI, rejects the traditional strategy of giving students obvious answers in favour of an interactive, Socratic methodology that pushes students to think critically and come to their own conclusions.

It claims to foster a deeper comprehension of the topic by asking guiding questions that are specific to the user's goal and level of expertise.

OpenAI clarified the educational foundations of Study Mode in a statement issued on Tuesday that said, “Today we’re introducing "Study Mode" in ChatGPT, a learning experience that helps you work through problems step by step instead of just getting an answer.”

The company's cooperation with a group of professionals, including educators, scientists, and pedagogy experts, highlights its dedication to creating a tool that is educationally sound.

Although it is yet to be determined whether Study Mode will be effective in reducing the problem of AI-assisted cheating, OpenAI's initiative is a significant effort to rebalance the relationship between technology and education.

Study Mode's success will probably be a predictor of the future of AI-infused learning as the educational landscape changes in tandem with technology.
