Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja has hailed the recently launched National AI Policy 2025 as a revolutionary initiative that will help place Pakistan on the map of developed nations by the power of artificial intelligence.
In a telephonic message on Wednesday, the minister said that in today's circumstances, AI is transforming everything, from healthcare to education, trade, and the economy. She emphasised that the government was keen to ensure that every citizen benefited from the AI revolution and that no Pakistani was left behind in the process.
Fatima reported that the policy provided for a fund geared towards youth-led startups and innovative thinking, as well as a number of projects to provide AI education to people throughout Pakistan.
“This policy will support and prepare our youth through market-orientated jobs in the global digital economy,” she said.
The minister also stressed that the AI framework was to also focus on data security, with a plan to enhance cybersecurity through the use of cutting-edge technology; investments will also be made towards AI-related infrastructure, and Pakistan will also seek to build connections with major countries to progress a national AI agenda.
Earlier this month, Fatima met with the AI Developer Ecosystem and Communities team from Google to discuss collaborating around opportunities for growth.
The Google team shared insights into their regional developer network, including the role of Google Developer Groups (GDGs), community AI programs, and learning platforms like Taleemabad.
The meeting focused on expanding community-driven innovation and increasing AI adoption across Pakistan.
