Google is testing a new branding update that replaces the standalone "G" icon in the app's header with the full "Google" wordmark.

The modification would align Google Messages with the branding style of other Google apps, like Calendar, Drive, and Photos, which currently display the full-colour logo or the "Google" branding in plain text.

The "Google" wordmark would appear in the app's header under the new branding, possibly bringing it closer to the company's overarching branding approach.

The new branding may be a component of an impending UI update, though it is unclear when or if it will be used.

An Android Authority contributor, AssembleDebug, performed the APK teardown, which revealed the possible branding update in the most recent Google Messages beta version.

This branding change may be one of the many minor adjustments Google makes to the appearance and feel of its main apps.

The business may decide to introduce the new branding on a variety of gadgets, such as Samsung phones with One UI.

Currently, the well-known standalone "G" icon remains visible in the upper-left corner of the screen when using the Google Messages app.

Nonetheless, the app might get a new look that complements the company's other apps if the new branding is applied.
