Google Messages, a highly popular instant messaging app is a prime target for online scammers, and hackers that are eyeing to steal your data. To protect you from these threats, Google has introduced new security features to ensure user's privacy while using Google Messages on Android.
Rising number of online scams has prompted Alphabet-owned to take this significant step to protect its users by augmenting the app’s existing, built-in spam protection feature to ensure user’s privacy.
Features
Here are the new security features to ensure user's privacy:
Enhanced detection of package delivery and job scams
Google has rolled out enhanced detection of package delivery and job scams feature. Texts about package delivery alerts and job-seeking inquiries initially seem harmless, but they pose a great threat to user’s security.

Moreover, this feature is available only for those Google Messages beta users who have already enabled spam protection in Settings.
So whenever the app detects any suspicious activity or spam, the automated function will move it to the spam folder and warn the user about it.
Intelligent warnings about potentially dangerous links
With this feature, the app will warn you right after receiving an unidentified message and also block the links from suspicious senders. This feature is currently available for India, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore, which is likely to be expanded globally by the end of this year.
Automatically conceal messages from unknown international senders
To protect users from scam texts coming from international numbers, Google Messages will automatically conceal messages from unknown international senders. Once you enable this feature, these spam messages will be automatically moved to the "Spam & blocked" folder. However, this feature is currently only available in Singapore and will later be expanded to more countries.
