Google made its entry into the foldable phone market with the Pixel Fold last year, introduced during the Google I/O 2023 event in May. Powered by the company's proprietary Tensor G2 chipset, the book-style foldable received attention for its unique design.
Now, rumours surrounding the Pixel Fold 2 have started circulating online, with an early hands-on render surfacing, revealing potential design changes and features. The Pixel Fold 2 is speculated to boast a slimmer form factor and a revamped camera module, drawing inspiration from the OnePlus Open design. Additionally, it is expected to run on the Tensor G4 chipset.
A report by Android Authority shared a single hands-on image of the purported Pixel Fold 2, showcasing a narrower cover display. The inner screen's aspect ratio is rumoured to be closer to a square, similar to the OnePlus Open.

The render indicates a redesigned camera bump on the Pixel Fold 2, housing four camera sensors, an LED flash, and a microphone. This setup is anticipated to include a main wide-angle lens, an ultra-wide-angle lens, a periscopic telephoto lens, and an unspecified fourth lens, marking a significant upgrade over the Pixel Fold's triple rear camera setup.
Furthermore, the Pixel Fold 2 is expected to feature an aluminium frame with a noticeable crease and a hole-punch cutout on the top right corner of the inner screen for the selfie camera. The first-generation Pixel Fold hide its inner screen camera in the top bezel.
Recent leaks also suggest various hardware specifications for the Pixel Fold 2, including the possibility of skipping the Tensor G3 chipset in favour of the Tensor G4. It could be equipped with 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage. The official launch is speculated to take place in October.
The original Google Pixel Fold was unveiled in May last year during the Google I/O 2023 event, priced at $1,799 (approximately INR 1,47,500) for the base variant with 256GB storage.
