Google, the Alphabet-owned company, was previously working to develop a new feature for the Play Store called “Collection”, which was released following its successful completion.

While the feature is already good at classifying ads by topic, it's bringing a home screen widget that seamlessly delivers information regarding features and offers.

Google Play Collections feature

Collection is an excellent way to stay informed with your apps and games automatically on the phone instead of navigating to the Play Store.

Moreover, it is specifically customised to keep the content covered from those users have already downloaded and classified them into different categories including shop, watch, design, and more.

If users would ever search for any particular category such as shoes or clothes, the Shop collection will automatically exhibit all the shopping apps in the Collections widget on the home screen. This gives users a margin for browsing about shoes while including suggestions for various designs and their prices.

All you have to do is click and make a purchase. Similarly, if you are interested in watching something, just browse your favourite movie or show and the widget will automatically suggest the content.

Initially, it supports the following seven categories:

  • Watch
  • Food
  • Listen
  • Shop
  • Read
  • Social
  • Game

However, the following categories are expected to arrive soon:

  • Health & Fitness
  • Sports
  • Travel & Events
  • Dating
