Google has released a major update for its Pixel Watch app on Android, introducing a refreshed design, new features, and a brand-new homescreen icon.
The most recent version, 4.1.0.810754319, had a public release on the Google Play Store, just before the Pixel Watch 4 announcement.
Earlier this month, Google began updating Material 3 Expressive elements to the application, but the latest version goes beyond simple updates to its design. The most eye-catching change is the introduction of a new Pixel Watch icon, replacing the previous iteration of a colourful Google-style icon.
The new icon is a much more photorealistic image of the watch, showing off true-life details like better-formed curves, a more representative crown, and a defined band colour that is shown in a blue and purple aesthetic.
This all marks a major step towards a consistent app identity among Google’s Pixel utilities while maintaining the Pixel branding direction; recently launched Pixel utilities include My Pixel, Alarm, Timer, and Stopwatch.
In addition to the visual upgrades, version 4.1 adds an ever-evolving carousel of content within the main feed section, which mimics a story-like feature. The carousel walks users through the main features of the Pixel Watch that include Fitbit integration, Personal Safety, Gemini AI, and Google Wallet.
The latest version also features redesigned menus that include clean, organised Material 3 containers for easier readability and navigation.
Furthermore, the Pixel Watch app update reflects Google’s ongoing effort to bring consistency to its ecosystem through Material You and M3 Expressive design principles, giving users a smoother and more intuitive experience.
