Google is working on a major update for its Search widget, making the shortcuts button more useful. Currently, the widget allows users to add a customisable shortcut for quick access to tools, including translation, a dictionary, finance updates, or song search.

However, an update could introduce a Multi Shortcuts button, giving users access to all available tools in one place.

Google Search Widget to add Multi Shortcuts button

This new shortcut button is expected to appear outside the search bar as a separate circle on the right side. Google has been testing this updated design since last year, and now, recent reports suggested from the latest Google app beta release (version 16.4.35.sa.arm64 beta).

According to the reports, the Multi Shortcuts button will replace the current shortcut icon with an app grid icon. When tapped, it will open a bottom sheet displaying all tools, making navigation faster and more efficient.

Moreover, the early testing of this feature shows that it is already functional, though it has not been officially released yet. The Multi Shortcuts button aims to improve the Google Search widget by allowing users to quickly access multiple tools instead of just one.

Google Search’s Multi Shortcuts button availability

Currently, this feature is only available in the beta version of the Google app and has not been rolled out to all users. However, since it is already working as expected, its official launch could happen soon.
