Google Tasks is set for a new update on Android and therefore, is working to add a new notification button on the app.

The popular task management app is used for keeping track of the user’s important to-do list and quickly captures tasks anywhere from any device as it is synced across all devices.

An APK teardown of the latest Google Tasks app for Android v2024.08.26.667397740.0 revealed that Google is working on enabling quick rescheduling of due tasks.

Initially, when a due task notification appeared in Google Tasks, there was no option to reschedule a task quickly. Users had to tap the notification to open the app, followed by the due task and then select the new due time and date to shift the task for later.

With this update, a due task notification will pop up with a “Reschedule” option in the notification shade. By tapping on it, one can push the due task to tomorrow, the coming weekend, or even next week. Moreover, there is also a "Custom" option to set the task's due date and time manually.

Google already offers a similar quick “Reschedule” option for due task notifications on the Google Calendar app. Currently, there is no confirmation of when Google will roll out this change to Google Tasks.
