Since tap-to-pay functionality was relatively uncommon among banks, but after more than a decade in the market, support for Google Wallet has now been extended to almost every bank.

To further enlarge the list of its supported banks, Google Wallet has expanded its support to over 40 additional banks and has also added compatibility with Venmo cards.

From time to time, new banks and credit unions are added to the list, with the latest update including 44 new additions from various regions in the United States. The recent additions mainly comprise local banks and credit unions, along with a few prepaid debit cards.

Among the 44 banks on the list, the most significant one is Venmo. Owned by PayPal, the app is widely recognised for its ability to quickly transfer money to friends, family, and businesses, according to 9To5Google.

In addition to its peer-to-peer payment facility, Venmo also provides physical debit cards that can be linked to a user's Venmo account balance, which itself can be funded from a linked bank account. Furthermore, Venmo now offers credit cards as well.

While Venmo has had some level of support for a while now, recent user reports indicate issues with adding Venmo cards, and Google's support page had not officially listed Venmo until now.

However, a support page updated less than a week ago mentions Google Pay support for Venmo, suggesting that Venmo has recently made some updates to its Google Wallet support.
