
Minister for State Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja has stressed that the government’s focus is on data regulation and cybersecurity.
Khawaja, speaking at the roundtable on Open Data Flows and Pakistan’s Digital Economy, revealed that the government is commitment towards growing the IT sector, aiming for IT exports to cross $25 billion.

Addressing the representatives from Google, Meta, other, the state minister said that the government’s support for the private sector aligns with the prime minister’s directives.
Efforts to transform Pakistan into a digital economy are underway, she assured.
The roundtable was attended by participants from the Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA), Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), and National Information Technology Board (NITB) also contributed to the discussions.
