The much-awaited Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6 is set to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X in Fall 2025. However, PC players might have to wait longer to get their hands on the biggest GTA version.

While there are no official details regarding the PC launch timeline for GTA 6, the head of Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar's parent company, has hinted that the game will later make its way to PC.

It's worth noting that Rockstar Games, the developer behind GTA, has a history of releasing its titles on consoles first, followed by a PC port a few years later.

GTA 6 to be released on PC

In his recent interview, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick highlighted Rockstar's approach to platform releases. "Historically, Rockstar has started with some platforms and then moved to other platforms," he said.

He further revealed that this approach was observed in Rockstar's past releases, including Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2.

Rockstar Games' PC release history

For instance, GTA 5 launched on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2013, followed by a PS4 and Xbox One release in 2014, meanwhile, the PC version wasn't released until 2015.

Similarly, Red Dead Redemption 2 launched on PS4 and Xbox One in 2018, and the PC version followed a year later, in November 2019.

That said, since GTA 6 is set to release in late 2025, fans can expect a PC version to be released as early as 2026.

Moreover, the launch of GTA 6 on consoles is expected to boost sales of the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X. It will also drive hardware sales, particularly owing to gamers eager to experience the latest instalment in the GTA series.
