The iPhone 16, set to debut in September, is expected to introduce several exciting features that will set it apart from the iPhone 15 series. These include the integration of Apple Intelligence, A18 chips, and a dedicated capture button for enhanced camera control.

According to Bloomberg's reporter Mark Gurman, the iPhone 16 lineup, which includes four models — iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max — is likely to maintain the design and functionality of its predecessors, with a few minor changes across the models.

The non-Pro iPhone 16 models may receive the Action button, while the Pro models are expected to see a slight increase in screen size, with the standard Pro moving to 6.3 inches and the Pro Max reaching 6.9 inches.

iPhone 16 Pro Capture Button

A new camera control button, rumoured to be called the "Capture Button," is expected to feature on the Pro models. This button may function similarly to a DSLR camera button, allowing users to adjust focus and zoom.

At present, the Action button can be set to open the Camera app and be used as a shutter button, while the volume button remains available for taking pictures as usual.

In simpler terms, pressing the new button would likely activate the camera in video mode or instantly start recording a video. This feature would be particularly valuable for frequent video creators or those looking to capture spontaneous moments.

The button is expected to work based on the pressure applied — a slight press would trigger autofocus, while a firmer press would take the picture. Gurman also suggests that users may be able to swipe the button to zoom in and out while shooting photos and videos.
