Spotify announced on Wednesday that it paid $10 billion in royalties in 2024, the largest payout ever to music industry in a single year.
The Swedish music-streaming juggernaut explained that approximately 1,500 artists minted more than $1 million each in royalties from Spotify last year.
The recent year's payout, the company outlined, is ten times the rollout of 2014 when it released $1 billion to artists.
The development comes on the heels of a lawsuit hitting Spotify in the US, accusing the company of underpaying songwriters in royalties for tens of millions of songs last year.
