There are ways you can stop your Windows 11 device from updating automatically.
How to pause automatic Windows 11 updates
- Go to the Start menu, select the Settings icon, or type ‘settings’ in the search bar at the top of the window.
- Click on the Windows Update option from the list page.
- From the menu, select a period of time you want automatic updates disabled. You can disable automatic updates for a maximum period of 5 weeks.
How to permanently disable automatic updates
- Press Win + R to bring up the RUN box. Now type ‘services.msc’ in the search bar to open Windows Services.
- Scroll down and double-click on the Windows Update option.
- In the Windows Update properties window, find Startup type and select Disabled.
- Now, click ‘Apply’ and then OK. This will permanently disable automatic updates on your Windows 11.
- If you turn off automatic updates, it might put your system at risk. Therefore, make sure to regularly check for the latest updates so that you can install them manually.
