
If the users log in to their Instagram account with their Facebook ID, both accounts will be connected. This makes it easy to share user’s tales on both platforms at the same time.
However, receiving identical recommendations and notifications from both applications may be rather frustrating. Gadinsider has a quick guide on how to unlink your Facebook and Instagram accounts.
Unlink Facebook account from the Instagram app
- Tap the profile icon in the lower right corner.
- Tap the hamburger menu in the top right corner of your profile page.
- Select Accounts Centre.
- Then choose Add or delete from this Accounts Centre.
- Tap the Remove option for your Facebook account.
- Next, select the Remove Account option again.
- On the following page, press the Continue button.
- On the last screen, tap Yes to delete.
- This will unlink the user’s Facebook account from the Accounts Centre, unlinking the two platforms.

Unlink Instagram account from the Facebook app
- Open the Facebook app and hit the hamburger menu in the upper right corner.
- Next, pick Settings & Privacy and then touch Settings.
- Tap on Accounts Centre.
- Then choose Add or Remove from this Accounts Centre.
- Select the Remove option next to your Instagram account.
- Select the Remove Account option.
- To complete the procedure, touch Continue, then choose Yes, delete, and input your Facebook password.
After the two accounts are unlinked, Meta will take up to 15 days to stop sharing and mixing user data between the two platforms. Following that, the users will not receive any suggestions based on their behaviour on any of those applications.
