In a fast-paced life like today's, shortcuts are very important as they make life easier for people. Similarly, desktop shortcuts of particular files and apps inside the overloaded folders and add-on drivers on the computer also help speed up the work.

Desktop shortcuts diminish the need to access applications from the original file location and thus save time.

Steps to create desktop shortcuts:

1. Using desktop menu

  1. Right-click anywhere in the free space present on your desktop.
  2. Look for a new window asking you to browse the location of the file for which you want to create the shortcut.
  3. Click the next option present somewhere at the right-bottom of the working window.
  4. Type a name for the shortcut.

2. Using file location

  1. Locate the file or application location for which you want to create the shortcut.
  2. Right-click on the particular file for which you want to create a shortcut.
  3. Look for a dialog box.
  4. Drag the shortcut to the desktop.
