Following the launch of its third-generation Honda Amaze compact sedan, Honda Cars India is planning to expand its lineup by introducing three new models in the country in the next two years.
Honda India’s lineup currently includes three models: two sedans and one SUV. However, by fiscal year (FY) 2026-2027, the automobile company aims to introduce hybrid powertrains utilising its e: HEV and new Honda electric badge.
According to Honda Cars India president and CEO Takuya Tsumura, the company aims to cater to Indian consumer needs while maintaining investment in traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles and electrified powertrains.
“Our focus is now shifting toward hybrids and fully electric vehicles to keep up with market trends," he stated.
However, further details of these three new models will be revealed as the plan progresses, as mentioned by the company's CEO.
Moreover, speculations are also swirling on the internet, suggesting that one of the electric models might be based on the Honda Elevate SUV, already available in the Indian market.
Notably, companies like Tata Motors, MG Motor, and Mahindra are already established in the electric vehicle (EV) market, while Toyota, Maruti Suzuki, and Hyundai are preparing to enter this competitive market as newcomers.
