What is the freelancing ID card?

The freelance ID card is a government-issued ID that provides evidence that you are a registered freelancer in the IT and digital services profession in Pakistan.

Once you have gone through the registration process at PSEB as a freelancer, you will be able to have tax exemptions, easier access to banks, eligibility for government grants and loans, and proof of your profession for visa applications and/or verification with clients.

In order to qualify for the Freelancer ID card in Pakistan, you must meet the following criteria:Be a Pakistani citizen and provide a CNIC or NICOP accepted by other countries, be at least 18 years old, and show proof of freelance income on platforms like Upwork, Fiverr or other self-employed income from personal clients.

You will be required to provide your CNIC, a passport-sized picture, proof of income (presumably in the form of screenshots), banking details (to promote banking use), and links to your online profiles if you wish to include those.

How to get Freelance ID card in Pakistan is straightforward:

  1. Visit the PSEB Freelancer Registration portal.
  2. Sign up and verify your account.
  3. Fill in your profile details.
  4. Upload required documents.
  5. Submit your application and track its status online.

Approval usually takes 7–14 working days. Once issued, the card brings major benefits of a Freelancing ID Card, from 100% tax relief on foreign remittance income to priority in government training programmes and co-working spaces.
