Snapchat is limiting the storage for the Memories feature, letting users who cross the 5GB mark be forced to pay a monthly fee to prevent their old snaps from being erased.

The company will also give its users a grace period of one year after they first reach the storage limit. If you do need the extra storage, you are required to pay $1.99 per month for 100GB.

A Snapchat spokesperson said the prices of subscriptions are for the US and may vary depending on the market. Those who do not necessarily need another monthly subscription can use two free options available on Snapchat to save and store memories offline.
