In a major move aimed at attracting more users, Apple has allowed users to easily switch from competing platforms like Spotify to Apple Music, thanks to the global rollout of Apple Music's import tool.

Users can import playlists and saved music from other streaming services into Apple Music with the help of the tool, which was first tested in February.

In order to use this feature, users must have an active Apple Music subscription, which costs $10.99 a month with a one-month free trial.

The application is accessible online, on iOS, iPadOS, and Android.

How to transfer music on an Android, iPhone, or iPad:

  • Navigate to Settings > Apps > Music.
  • Select Transfer Music from Other Music Services.
  • Select the music service you wish to switch from. Then, log in to the service.
  • Choose the item you wish to move, then select Add to Library.
  • Watch for matches in Apple Music.

How to transfer playlists from Apple Music web version

  • Visit music.apple.com
  • Use your Apple Account to log in. Then, click your picture or logo in the upper right corner
  • Select Transfer Music, pick the item you wish to move, and then click Add to Library
  • Watch for matches in Apple Music

If Apple Music finds comparable alternative versions, users might get one of two messages: "Transfer Complete" or "Some Music Needs Review".

Users can choose alternative versions and review unmatched music for 30 days.

Only user-generated playlists—not those produced by the platform they're migrating from—can be used with the tool.

Apple wants to improve the music streaming service's user experience and draw in more users.

Is Apple Music's import tool available in China, Russia, Myanmar?

With the exception of China, Myanmar, and Russia, the Apple Music import tool is now accessible everywhere.

Apple is making it simpler for customers to access their current music libraries and make the switch to Apple Music with this worldwide rollout.
