Google is quietly bringing a big audio upgrade to Pixel phones with Android 16, here’s how to try it early.
Android 16 will bring with it Auracast, a new Bluetooth LE Audio feature that allows Pixel users to share or hear nearby audio streams, ideal for individuals wearing hearing aids or anyone with devices that support LE Audio.
Though it was supposed to roll out with Android 16 beta, it's still not visible. But Gadinsider has got a easy hack, through which you can activate this feature immediately.
Auracast functions similarly to public or private audio broadcasting. For instance, if you're listening on a Pixel 9 using compatible earbuds or hearing aids, you can broadcast what you are listening to to others or locate nearby broadcasts to connect to.
Step-by-step guide to enable audio sharing on Android 16:
- Go to Settings > About phone.
- Scroll down and tap Build number 7 times to unlock Developer Options.
- Go to Settings > System > Developer options.
- Scroll down and find “Enable Bluetooth LE Audio Broadcast UI preview.”
- Toggle it ON.
- After enabling the option, restart your phone.
- Go to Settings > Connected devices > Connection preferences.
- You’ll now see the “Audio sharing” page.
- To share audio, connect an Auracast-compatible device and toggle the “Share audio” option.
- To listen to nearby broadcasts, tap “Find an audio stream” to search for broadcasts.
Notably, this hidden toggle also appears in the latest Android 15 stable release for supported devices. So, even if you're not on Android 16 beta, you can still try it out — as long as you have a Pixel 8, Pixel 9, or Pro model.
