
With iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, Apple Notes, one of the best note-taking apps worldwide, has received several visual and functional updates.
One notable addition is the live audio transcription feature, which allows you to create a voice memo within your note, generate a voice memo card, and play the audio directly in the Notes app.

How to use Apple Notes live audio transcription
- Ensure your device supports iOS 18 or macOS Sequoia beta.
- Open the Apple Notes app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
- On iPhone, tap the + icon and then the paperclip icon (on macOS Sequoia, choose the audio wave icon).
- Select "Record Audio".
- Tap the red record button, pause when finished, and then tap "Done".
- Your recording and the transcript will appear shortly.
- Tap on the audio recording and then tap the quote button to see your live audio transcription.
- Tap the three-dot icon in the top right to copy the full transcript.
- When choosing "Record Audio," ensure you tap the red record button to start capturing the audio. Tap the pause button and select "Done" in the bottom right corner.
Additionally, these live audio transcripts are also available automatically in the iOS 18 Voice Memos app.
