Meta on Thursday launched its artificial intelligence (AI)-powered photo and video editing tools directly to Instagram Stories, which allows you to enter a text prompt to add or remove unwanted things in images and videos, or even change it completely.
According to the American tech giant, the addition of text-based prompts in Instagram Stories makes these editing features more accessible and easier to use.
How to restyle Instagram Stories with Meta AI
Whether you want to simply remove an unwanted detail from your story, include a playful element, change the vibe using a whimsical effect, or start a trend with your friends on the platform, here's how you can do so.
To restyle your images:
- Tap on the '+' on your profile photo to choose an image from your camera roll to add to your story.
- Once you have selected the photo, click on the 'restyle' icon.
- Select 'Add', 'Remove', or 'Change', describing what you want to edit.
- Typing within the prompt bar at the bottom, edit the text you desire.
- Scrolling to choose one of the preset effects above the prompt bar.
- Clicking on the browser icon in the bottom right for even more preset effect options.
- Once your new image is generated, you can click 'Done' before sharing it as your story.
To restyle your videos:
- Tap on the '+' on your profile photo to choose a video from your camera roll to add to your story.
- Once you have selected your video, click on the 'restyle' icon.
- Choose a preset effect.
- Once your new video is generated, you can click 'Done' before sharing it as your story.
"We want to give you the creative freedom to edit your photos and videos exactly how you want. The more specific and detailed your prompt, the better Meta AI can match your vision," said Instagram.
It should be noted that when you're using Meta AI in Instagram, you're accepting 'Meta's AI Terms of Service', which allows your media and facial features to be analysed by AI.
