In a surprising move to reiterate its emphasis on its Elantra lineup, Hyundai is set to relaunch the 6th-generation Elantra with a 2.0-litre petrol engine in Pakistan.

The notable aspect of the development is that it's both tentative and believable simultaneously, as knowledgeable industry insiders brought this to light.

The Elantra vehicle concerned was previously discontinued in favour of the 7th-generation Elantra hybrid on October 25, 2024; however, it is now making a comeback as part of the automaker's strategy to meet diverse customer needs.

Although the latest Elantra hybrid has gained enormous traction ever since it debuted, the reintroduction of its predecessor is anticipated to balance Hyundai’s offerings and attract different buyers.

Auto analyst Suneel Munj noted that the decision is influenced by the ongoing success of the 6th-gen Elantra in various international markets. Hyundai believes that there's a warm reception for both petrol and hybrid sedans in Pakistan, and this comeback is intended to fill a price gap while improving the brand's competitiveness.

The 6th-generation Elantra will compete directly with popular sedans like the Toyota Corolla and Honda City Aspire, which dominate the petrol vehicle segment in Pakistan.

The relaunch of the 6th-generation Elantra is said to be serving both typical petrol users and those prone to hybrids.
