Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has launched a new smart mobile app called Apna Meter Apni Reading, allowing users to send their electricity meter readings each month.
The app is part of a government-backed reform plan under the Ministry of Energy (Power Division) to improve customer service and ensure fair billing.
IESCO’s ‘Apna Meter Apni Reading’ app features
With this mobile application, customers can now take a photo of their electric meter once a month on a specific date and submit it directly to IESCO. This will help alleviate inaccurate or delayed readings and allow users to have more control over their monthly billing statements.
IESCO’s Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Naeem Jan stated that the aim is to empower their customers by involving them in the billing process. "This smart app is a huge leap towards modernising our electricity system. It puts the power back into the hands of the people and builds trust," stated Naeem.
To facilitate the localisation of the Apna Meter Apni Reading application, IESCO said that its offices have been outfitted with everything they need to succeed, and staff members have undergone sufficient training.
The company will also run an educational campaign to encourage consumers to understand how to utilise the Apna Meter Apni Reading application and to understand its benefits.
According to IESCO, the customer-friendly system would be a beneficial opportunity for both the business side of IESCO and the customer, with timely and accurate billing.
