Instagram adds puzzle feature to Reels

Instagram is testing a new feature that hides Reels behind a code puzzle, making them visible only after fans solve a clue. 

This way Instagram will increase creator engagement and give followers a fun, exclusive way to access special content.

Instagram new puzzle feature 

This new feature works like a mini guessing game. Creators can post a Reel that stays locked unless viewers solve a hint. 

For example, if the clue is “my favorite food,” fans who know the answer can type it in and unlock the video. It's similar to a riddle-based game where only those with the right answer win a chance to see hidden content.

Instagram shared an example from its official Design account. In that post, a Reel was locked with the hint “1st # in the caption.” The correct answer was “Threads,” and only users who entered that keyword could watch the exclusive video. 

Surprisingly, this feature gives creators more control over who sees certain content while making fans feel more connected and involved.

This feature can help boost Instagram Reels engagement and increase interactions between creators and followers. It’s also useful for brands that want to build hype around new products or events.

Instagram has tried similar features before, like the "Reveal" tool that lets followers unlock Stories by sending a message. While the puzzle-lock tool is still being tested, it shows Instagram’s growing interest in making content more fun and interactive.
