Instagram officially revealed the Edits app, the latest video editor app for mobile platforms which is set to outdo CapCut. Originally slated to be released on March 3, its launch now appears to be delayed and is likely to come out later than expected.
According to the preorder page on the App Store for Instagram’s Edits app, the recently announced video editor is likely to be released on March 31 — two weeks later than the original date. However, Meta has not officially addressed the issue.
Edits app from Instagram coming later next month
Edits were officially revealed by Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri, who explained the app as a tool for people who are “passionate about making videos” using their phones.
According to Mosseri, the app is a “full suite of creative tools” and will offer a variety of features, including:
- A dedicated inspiration tab
- Another tab to keep track of your ideas
- A “much higher quality camera” for shooting videos
- “All the editing tools you’d expect”
- Ability to share drafts with friends and other creators
- Easy export to Instagram, and powerful insights for Reels content
Instagram Edits will allow users to crop videos, merge several clips, add sound and voiceover, create subtitles, and more. In addition, the app allows users to record videos directly within the app, with frame rate, resolution, and more.
According to Meta, the upcoming app will allow users to export videos to different platforms without a watermark.
