Instagram is set to integrate new features into broadcast channels, allowing creators more ways to engage with their followers. Meta revealed that content creators can turn on “Replies” in their broadcast channel limited group chats.

It will let participants respond to messages and each other’s comments — just like they already can on Instagram posts.

Moreover, content creators can upload time-sensitive “Prompts” to their channels, presented as questions like “What are you having for dinner today?” to encourage audience engagement. Channel participants have 24 hours to respond with text or photos, and can like their favourite comments left by other users.

In addition, Instagram is ready to roll out new metrics for creators to track, including the total number of interactions, story shares, and poll votes, alongside “personalised, actionable guidance, helping them grow and handle their audiences.

These new features are confirmed to launch on Tuesday. Initially, Instagram Head Adam Mosseri hinted towards the update by turning it on his own “IG Updates” channel.

However, it is important to note that these new features have only been announced for Instagram, and the company has not yet officially revealed whether they will eventually be rolled out to its other platforms. Given that Instagram was the first to launch broadcast channels, it may be used as a testing ground.
