Internet service has been disrupted in Pakistan during the ongoing general elections of 2024 today across the country.

According to Netblocks, Pakistan is experiencing a nationwide internet blackout during the initial hours of the polls for general elections 2024 in the country.

Is Internet down today in Pakistan?

In a tweet on X (formerly Twitter), the watchdog organisation wrote, "Confirmed: Live network data show a disruption to mobile internet in Pakistan with high impact to second-largest operator Zong, corroborating widespread user reports of outages; the incident comes as polls open on election day PakistanElection2024."

Although reports of slowed internet service have come to light from across the country, users of Zong — the second-largest mobile service provide in Pakistan —  were in majority among them, as underscored in Netblocks' tweet.

In a follow up to the internet breakdown, the watchdog firm specifically highlighted the areas that are affected the most by the internet blockade occurred amid the general elections.

Data shared by Netblocks in X provided regional breakdown of the internet blockade. It can be seen that the most affected region encountering sluggish, or no, internet is Punjab as there is no inclusion of other regions in the data.
