iOS 18 compatible devices: Apple CarPlay getting massive upgrades

As Apple has disclosed a plethora of new accessibility features we might have with iOS 18 later this year. What adds to the gleam of the latest iOS update is that it's said to accompany huge upgrades.

iOS 18 features for CarPlay

As per official press release by the company, three features will be offered on Apple's in-car software with iOS 18:

Features coming to CarPlay include Voice control, Color Filters and Sound Recognition. Dubbed as accessibility features, these features might to fulfill a diversity of driver needs. Another feature — which we have not listed above — in the pipeline would help reduce the effects of motion sickness.

As touchscreens are awfully difficult to control without looking a them, obliging drivers to do so at a time they must keep their eyes on the road. Given that, with the voice control feature, CarPlay will let drivers explore entire interface of CarPlay and control its apps using their voice. This feature presents a safer option to control them and stay safe and sound behind the wheels.

The second feature is Sound Recognition, designed for who are deaf or hard of hearing. This feature is developed to signal drivers about sounds like car horns and sirens. The only concern at hand is a question whether it has the ability to differentiate between real world noises and sound effects used in music.

Lastly, the Colour Filters are made to facilitate colorblind drivers, making CarPlay interface visually friendly to use. This feature will also offer additional visual accessibility features, such as emboldening or enlarging text.
